Seattle Network Elevated latency to China

We're currently seeing significantly elevated latency and some packet loss to China from our Seattle network when routing outbound via AS4837. We suspect there is a fiber cut in China Unicom's US network in the San Jose area, this should be resolved soon.

Our CMIN2 network is unaffected apart from a small latency increase.

  • This was partially resolved at 10:18 UTC and fully resolved at 11:11 UTC.

  • It has been confirmed there is major fiber cuts in the San Jose area (where we connect to China Unicom), no current estimated fix time. We checked alternative routes but they all had higher packet loss, although lower latency. We will consider switching routes if this carries on for much longer.

Seattle Network Seattle China AS4837 fault

We can currently see that there is a fault with the whole China AS4837 line with at least 10% widespread packet loss. We will monitor this for a short period and temporarily switch the line to AS4134 if required.

  • AS4837 is now stable again and has been reactivated.

  • Routing to China has now been moved to AS4134 + China Mobile International and there is no longer any packet loss. We'll monitor AS4837 and switch back when it has become stable again.

Seattle Network AS4837 connectivity with China Mobile

We're seeing poor performance to China Mobile at peak time from our default AS4837 routing. We believe that China Mobile has an interconnection issue with Telecom and Unicom which is likely why this is happening. Hopefully it's only temporary and is resolved soon.

    ASHKVM1 Ashburn KVM VPS offline

Our Ashburn KVM VPS server is currently offline due to failed network maintenance that wasn't supposed to cause disruption. Should come back shortly.

  • This was resolved as of 10:14 UTC, we apologise for the inconvenience caused.
